Chennai, Feb 1:
Uproarious scenes were witnessed at the Pallavaram Municipal Council meet today.
Trouble started when AIADMK member Dhansingh raised an issue whether permission was given to private parties for displaying publicity boards on lamp- posts on GST Road.
Intervening the Municipal Commissioner Ethiraj said that the publicity boards were allowed to be displayed after obtaining permission from the District Collector.
Unsatisfied by the reply, AIADMK member Dhansingh and CPM member Narasimhan asked why the copy of the District Collector's approval was not given to the members. To this, the chairman Karunanidhi said that the approval copy would be placed at the next meeting.
The members also complained that the private parties were illegally drawing electricity from the roadside lamp posts. Commissioner assured to take action on this.
Some opposition attempted to raise a point when the Chairman denied permission.
