The fears of the parents of a missing four-year-old boy came true when they learnt that their child has been kidnapped as the culprits have demanded Rs 5 lakh as ransom. In the meantime, police have formed three special teams to apprehend the kidnappers.
Police said Vimal, a four-year-old UKG child of Tanaram, a jewellery shop owner, was kidnapped on Tuesday when he was playing in front of his house. Manali police have registered a case and began enquiry.
The boy's mother had told the police that two days ago, a stranger had spoken to the boy and enquired after his father and his business. This was reported by the boy to his mother.
Yesterday, parents received
anonymous phone calls demanding the ransom failing which the culprits said
their child would be killed. They had received eight phone calls so far.
The police traced the calls to Tiruvottiyur, Minjur and Ponneri areas.
