        An order was promulgated by the city police regulating processions, demonstrations, fasts, meetings, assemblies within Greater Chennai for a period of 15 days commencing from 8 am on 30 January and ending 8 pm on 14 February.

        According to an official press release it is said that the order has been issued under Section 31 of the Tamilnadu City Police Act, 1888. Intending applicants have been asked to apply five working days in advance to enable processing of the requests.
