Robbers raid homes in Ooteri

Chennai, Oct 2:

        In a series of dacoity near Ooteri, five houses were ransacked by an unidentified gang last night.

        Police have estimated the value of gold jewellery, cash and cell phones missing from the houses at Rs four lakh.

        In the first incident, when Venkateshwaralu (43) residing at Krishnadas street was sleeping at his house, an unidentified gang is said to have looted over 40 sovereign gold jewellery and Rs 30,000 cash from his house.

        In the second incident, the gang stole a cell phone and Rs 600 cash from the residence of Radhakrishnan (40), an advocate.

        Following this, three cell phones were also stolen from the residence of Sadiq (35), Murugan (24) and Nagaiyya of the same locality.

        Police suspect a single gang for the robberies as investigations continue.
