        'We should strive to create a nation as envisaged by Mahatma Gandhi', Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said.

        He read out a pledge on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 138th birth anniversary and the centenary year of freedom struggle initiated by Gandhiji against Britishers in South Africa, at the Secretariat today.

        It was attended by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials of various departments. In his pledge, Karunanidhi said, ' every one should stay united irrespective of caste, colour or creed. Let's strive to abolish untouchability and do away with liquor'. Everyone should come together to create a nation as envisaged by Mahatma Gandhi, he said.
