Chennai, Aug 3:
The Tamilnadu government will recommend the names of 33 self-financing engineering colleges to All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to withdraw the recognition for collecting excess tuition fee, State Higher Education Secretary K Ganesan has said.
Speaking to reporters here yesterday, he said there has been more awareness among the parents and many have come forward and lodged complaints against colleges for collecting more fees.
The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) officials conducted raids in 159 self-fiancing engineering colleges and 33 colleges were found to have collected more fees.
'The colleges would be given
a chance to prove that they had not collected the excess fee. If they are
found guilty, the government would write to AICTE to withdraw the recognition
to these colleges,' Ganesan said.
