CHAMPION OUTFIT: Members of the victorious Loyola College team with the chief guest Fr B Jayaraj, Rector, Loyola College and S Vijayakumar, director of Physical Education after beating St Jude's College in the final yesterday.

        Host Loyola College pipped St Jude's (Thoothoor) 4-3 in the tiebreaker in the final of the eighth Rev Fr. Murphy Memorial inter-collegiate football tournament at the Loyola campus here yesterday.

        Both the teams put up a scrappy performance during full-time as well as during the extra-time and the scores read 0-0. In the shootout, trailing 3-4, St Jude's required Yesudas to score to keep the team's hopes alive, but his shot hit the post signalling Loyola's win.

        The winner received Rs. 5,000 from the chief guest Rev. Fr B Jayaraj, Rector, Loyola College.

        Result (final): Loyola 4 (Vinoth, Manikandan, Shyju, Chinnayya) beat St Jude's 3 (Devadasan, Maria Jaison, Antony Edison).
