Cuddalore, Feb 3:
Two pilgrims from Chennai were killed and eight others seriously injured when a van in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Cuddalore early this morning, police said.
The van carrying 10 pilgrims was heading towards Rameshwaram when a lorry in the opposite direction collided with it killing two persons.
The deceased were identified as Prema (45) of Parrys and Mahesh (5) of Nerkundram. Those injured were Vijaya (45), Gandhi (50), Deiva (40), Gomathi (45), Vasantha (45), Mahalakshmi (40), Vanjiravelu (45) and Rajaganesh (45).
Veppur police rushed to the
accident spot and admitted the injured to a government hospital in Ulundurpet.
A case has been registered and the police are investigating.
