The inauguration of the 57th national conference on 'Occupational Health-Past, Present and Future', organised by the Tamilnadu branch of the Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH), is aimed at reflecting on the current position and the way ahead in preventing occupational related illnesses or in mitigating their serious pathological consequences.
Briefing reporters here on Thursday, IAOH president V Swaminathan said the outcome of the conference would promote optimal health and safety of work.
Saying that Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) professionals would conduct the workshop, he said the conference would bring together five international and 12 national experts and about 300 specialists from all over the country for updating the participants on the latest developments, research and case study experiences in occupational health.
He also said the technical conference programme would include scientific and specialists' sessions focussing on specific industry problems and supplementary training programmes.
To complement the conference, an exhibition of occupational health and safety related equipment, products and services would be held.
