Give up plan to break bridge

        Sir,

It is ironic that the assistance of 'Hanuman' is sought in breaking a bridge that is supposed to have been built by his assistance! It is very much doubtful whether 'he' will oblige and do the job. It is saddening to note the obstinacy of the breakers who have scant respect for heritage and also for the sentiments of Hindus. This stubbornness reminds us of the Taliban's act of breaking the Bamian Buddha statue.

One is tempted to compare their act with the care with which the archaeological relics were handled during the building of Aswan dam across river Nile. Perhaps the indifference is due to the fact that it is a Hindu relic. Will they act similarly if it belonged to any other minority religion?

        Following Gandhi's legacy

        Sir,

After going through the article - 'The present saga of aSatyagraha' (News Today, 31 January), I feel that Congress president Sonia Gandhi is a true successor of M K Gandhi. Both are hypocrites. Tell something and do something else. Pamper the Christians and Muslims to the core and do maximum harm to Hindu society.

In fact, I feel Sonia is better than M K Gandhi. She is a Catholic and she will act true to what her belief is. That is exactly what she is doing. M K Gandhi on the other hand was born in a traditional Hindu family and went to great pains to bring harm to Hindu Samaj. I fully endorse your views.
