Mercedes Benz E Class, a new generation car from DaimlerChrysler, was rolled out in Chennai in association with Trans Car recently.
Some 2000 parts in the E- Class are either new or modified further. The debutante replaces its predecessor, a hugely successful model and had already sold over one million units globally since its introduction four years ago.
'We have been able to present our Indian customers with the new generation E-Class within 5 months of its global launch in June 2006. This is in line with our commitment to offer our Indian customers the best products and technologies from the Mercedes - Benz stable in the least possible time,' said Suhas Kadlaskar, director, Corporate Affairs, Daimler-Chrysler India.
He said Trans Car has been their valued partners since 1998 and 'with their partnership I am confident that we will continue to offer the latest products in Indian markets with least possible time and work closer with our customers.'
Till date Trans Car had sold over 750 vehicles and serviced for a customer base of more than 1,800. 'Our new workshop at Ambattur will continue to set benchmarks in service delivery.
Chennai is a growing market for Mercedez - Benz and we hope there will be more entrants to this brand in future,' said K S M Musaddique, managing director, Trans Car.
E-Class Mercedes comes in two design and equipment lines to meet the needs of customers who seek to give their car a personal look. The lines are Classic and Elegance and they have different characters of the model variants which are distinguished by special features.
The product has two variants — E280 (petrol) and E280CDI (diesel in V-arrangement) as well as the E 200 Kompressor which features a modified engine system, a dynamic supercharger and improved pistons that results in higher output by 12.5 per cent.
A revamped front-end design reflects the power, poise and assurance of new generation E-Class. The bumper and radiator grille feature a pronounced V-shape which epitomises power and forward motion. In the interior, the new vehicle differs from the earlier model with a new four-spoke steering wheel featuring elliptical thumb-operated buttons and a new control unit for the standard-fit, thermatic and automatic climate control.
After four years in production
and around a million vehicles sold, the new generation of Mercedes - Benz
is set to make deep inroads in Indian car market.
