PMK's ultimatum to TN govt

        Upping the ante on his attack against the DMK government, PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss today warned that a big social revolution will engulf the State if immediate changes were not made in the education system in Tamilnadu.

        Inaugurating a protest demonstration here, organised by the Tamil Students Sangam, a unit of the PMK, demanding Balanced Education System in Tamilnadu, he said only when people took a lead and engineered an educational revolution, could a change in the education sector was possible, Ramadoss said.

        'This {demonstration} is to demand education. A balanced, free and standard education without capitation fee. The State government must implement uniformed and balanced education for all immediately,' the PMK strongman said and demanded the release of Muthukumaran Committee report which was set up to go into the issue. He also said that this should be debated in the State Assembly and wanted implementation of it in the next academic session. 'Efforts should be taken to make Tamil the language of instruction,' Ramadoss said and suggested that English should only be a language subject.

        'All other subjects should be taught in Tamil,' he said.

        Recalling that they had already conducted 28 such agitations for the cause, he stressed that people should have revolutionary outlook. 'All of you should join hands to usher in the educational revolution,' the PMK leader said.

        Ramadoss charged that the poor received a substandard education whil e the rich got good. 'This must go,' he said and added that divisions such as Matric, State and Anglo Indian should be done away with so that a uniform system of education can be put in place.

        Senior leaders of the party, GK Mani, AK Murthy, Saidapet Siva, Rama Muthukumar, Guru, TK Raja and several others participated.
