        State Governor and leaders of political parties have expressed their condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar. Governor Surjit Singh Barnala expressed shock and was grieved to hear the death of Chandra Shekhar. He said, 'Chandra Shekhar was a great Parliamentarian and an able administrator who fought for the cause of the poor and downtrodden. He was known for his flawless oratory, simplicity and courage.'

        Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, in his condolence message, said,' the former Prime Minister is known for his strong secular principles. His death is a great loss to our country.'

        AIADMK party supremo J Jayalalithaa said Chandra Shekhar had a distinguished political career and made a mark as Parliamentarian. She also called him an outspoken leader who was firm in his commitment. 'His demise is an irreparable loss to our country,' she added.
