        In a suspected gang war here last night, notorious rowdy 'Pull' Saravanan (26) of Tambaram was allegedly hacked to death by an unidentified gang.

        According to police, the body of rowdy Saravanan was found in a pool of blood near Ramesh Nagar. The murder is said to have taken place at around 8.30 pm yesterday in which an unidentified gang had attacked him with long knives injuring him.

        Police say that they found some beer bottles at the spot. And they are suspicious that the gang must have been in an inebriated mood when they committed the crime. It may be noted that Saravanan, an accused in several cases, was released from Puzhal prison only four months back.

        He was an accused in a murder case in 2001 and was also involved in several other crimes like robbery and waylaying. Later, the body of the rowdy was sent for post- mortem at Government General Hospital, Chromepet.
