        A boy who dove into a pond in suburban Pallavaram to cool himself died due to asphyxiation after he was trapped in silt yesterday.

        According to police, the deceased was Mohammed Ismail John, son of Mohammed John. He was a student of a private school.

        Acting on information, Inspector of Pallavaram police station Durairaj along with Fire and Rescue personnel, visited the scene, fished out the body from the pond and sent it to Government Hospital, Chromepet, for postmortem.
