Local Administration Minister M K Stalin has allotted more funds for women groups so that they can seek self employment, announced Chennai Mayor M Subramanian here today.
He was speaking at a function to mark the course completion of women self-help group (SHG) members. He distributed certificates and handed over a stipend of Rs 300 each to 50 members of women SHGs on their completing a three-month course on food production and medical laboratory technology.
The course was conducted by the Chennai Corporation and Ambal Academy, Vadapalani, for SHG women, in particular to those below poverty line. He assured them that the Corporation would recommend them for jobs and added that all steps would be taken for the upliftment of women self-help groups.
