Sir,
It is sad to hear about the loss of several innocent lives, when a jeep ladden with explosives blew up at Senthur village near Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu on 7 April. Obviously, it was a very powerful explosion, as the sound was reported to have been heard upto two kilometre distance and damaging several buildings nearby. It cannot be minor explosives caused by gelatine sticks.
The incident should be investigated very seriously and at the highest level. It was surprising that the Inspector General of Police who visited the spot has said even within a few hours that no sabotage could be suspected.
Obviously, he has not given himself enough time to investigate and has rushed to the press which is raising suspicions as to why he should make such immediate announcement on such a serious accident.
The Government of India should take up the matter for investigation instead of leaving the subject to the State government, in view of the ongoing conflicts in SriLanka and several acts of communal violence around the country. This incident should be approached as an act of possible terrorism and should not be brushed aside as an yet another road accident.
