        A youth was murdered by a gang after a row over a missing cellphone at Perungudi, a southern suburb. The seven-member gang was arrested by the police within six hours of the crime.

        It is said one Karthik had purchased an expensive cellphone a few days ago and when he lost it, he suspected that his room mates had taken it. And he complained about them to his brother Rajasekar who came along with his friends, threatened the room mates and demanded Rs 1,000 from each of them.

        This led to a clash in which the uncle of one of the room mates Aruldoss, Prabhakaran, was fatally attacked. Later, police rounded up the gang and registered a case against them.
