        Keeping one's mind and body fit is vital for all, and more so for students. This was what News Today and Talk Media Editor-Publisher T R Jawahar had to tell students of Ramakrishna Mission Tamil Medium Kindergarten and Primary School, T Nagar, while inaugurating the sports meet on Thursday.

        Stating that it could be taken as an advice or a suggestion, he urged the students to be time conscious while watching television, and said their interest in sports should not be allowed to dwindle.

        Further, he said it was the duty and responsibility of each and every one to maintain his/her body and keep it fit as 'it is an instrument.'

        He also said sports and games were not only important during one's school days but also in life as a whole.

        Stating that physical exercise is the best sporting activity, Jawahar said an ideal blend of mind and muscle would help one scale great heights.

        Pointing out that the 'gurukulam' system is the real form of education, he hailed Ramakrishna Mission for following it and imparting education irrespective of caste, creed and colour with an intention of enriching the society.

        'You are in safe hands for the institution, through which you are pursuing education, has been concentrating it's efforts on service to humanity,' he said while wishing students success in their lives.

        Felicitating, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, secretary, Swamy Padmasdanandaji Maharaj said people who go about acquiring several degrees fail to follow what education has imparted to them.

        He also recalled Swami Vivekananda's stress on practical education being more important to help one lead a successful life.

        Praising the News Today Editor for his association with the Ramakrishna Mission, the Swamiji said he (Jawahar) had been diseminating Swamy Vivekananda's ideas through his writings.

        Later, Jawahar distributed prizes to winners of various events.

        The school's principal Mallika Mandiram also spoke.
