The Music Messiah, an album by maestro Ilaiyaraja was released by cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra recently.
'It is the fifth Ilayaraja album being brought out by the company,' said Agilan Lechaman of Agi Music.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Balu Mahendra said his association with Ilayaraja was beyond a mere director-music director relationship.
The two greats first worked together in Moodu Pani, the director's third film and Ilayaraja's 100th.
'His music enriched my films and gave them several new dimensions,' he said.
Actor Nasser recalled his experience while Ilayaraja scored music for his film Avadaaram.
Speaking on his admiration for Ilayaraja, director-actor Cheran said the industry should organise a grand celebration to felicitate the maestro.
Lyricist Na Muthukumar and K Pandiarajan, managing director, Ma Foi were also present on the occasion.
The Music Messiah is a new
interpretation of the background score in Indian films.
