A special task force under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has been set up to ensure uninterrupted growth of industries in the State and to resolve disputes in trade.
An official press release here yesterday said the task force headed by the Chief Minister will comprise industrialists, senior government officials and representatives from various industry associations. The task force is set up as per the announcement made in the State Assembly during the budget session.
The Chief Minister had also assured industrialists at the recent meet of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry that a task force would be constituted under his chairmanship to promote trade opportunities and to sustain Tamilnadu's position as a reliable place for investments.
Chief Secretary L K Tripathy will be the vice-chairman. Secretaries of Finance and Commercial Tax departments would be the ex-officio members while Industries Secretary will be the member-secretary.
The other members of the task force are industrialist M A M Ramaswamy, chairman, Chettinad Cements, Venu Srinivasan, chairman and managing director TVS Motor Company, N Srinivasan, deputy chairman and managing director, India Cements Limited, Ram V Thyagarajan, chairman and managing director, Thiru Arooran Sugar Mills and P R Ramasubramanya Rajah, chairman, Madras Cements Limited.

(TN), the release said.
