Chennai, Oct 9:
Hut- dwellers of Bhojarajan Nagar, Washermenpet, are gripped by the fear of stones falling on their huts during night time as it is said that some miscreants were hurling them for some unknown reason. Tension has broken loose ever since 10 people were injured by the stone-hurling and hospitalised.
There are more than a 1,000 dwellings in the area. The residents said stones had been thrown at the huts for the past 10 days that too during midnight, hence the inability to identify the miscreants.
Hut- dwellers also alleged that Washermenpet police have not taken any steps in spite of complaints lodged by them. As a result, the slum- dwellers themselves had decided to do night patrolling to trace the culprits.
The injured include Lakshmi
(60), Meenatchi (45) and eight-year-old girl Rajalakshmi.
