AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa has said her party will hold a massive agitation at Chennaimalai tomorrow to condemn the DMK government for reducing the wage rate for export handlooms.
In a statement issued here yesterday, Jayalalithaa said the State government had increased the interest rate of loans given to cooperative societies from nine per cent to 12 per cent.
She also said the government had stopped procuring clothes supplied as uniforms for its employees from handloom weavers and had shifted orders to powerloom owners.
Stating that livelihood of weavers was affected by these acts of the ruling DMK, the former Chief Minister said the AIADMK would conduct a protest in front of Chennimalai bus-stand tomorrow.
She said headquarters secretary
of the party K A Sengottaiyan and Erode south district secretary K V Ramalingam
would lead the demonstration.
