Carnatic music and Kudanthai sisters

        Kudanthai sisters K Bama Kannan and K Manjula are passionate about singing. Their ambition is to spread the hoary Indian music tradition to the public.
       They hold competitions for students in and around Chennai every year to unearth young talents. They are happy to cultivate a kind of musical quest in young minds.

        The sisters started their career in 1981. They came to Chennai in 1997 from their native place of Kumbakonam. Their effort and dedication won them appreciation for their Carnatic music skills.

        They have conducted music concerts at home and abroad including Singapore and Malaysia. For the past 25 years now, they have been conducting performances in many sabhas. December music festival helped their seasonal concerts to bloom.

        They have performed in Sangeetha sammelanas, Chief Minister's programmes, Government of Tamilnadu Tourism functions besides inauguration concerts and reception performances in and around Tamilnadu and in the States of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra and Puducherry.

        Their CDs and cassettes have been released by many companies. Bama Kannan's son Kudanthai K Balakrishnan is playing mridangam in their troupe while her husband Kannan is the coordinator for the programmes.
