After all the talk, the gates in several cinema halls in Chennai finally opened for the advance booking for Sivaji, as die-hard fans made a beeline to theatres, where the film is getting released coming Friday.
According to reports, the tickets for the first week have been sold out in all the theatres. Sivaji is AVM's mega budget film and it may turn out to be the most expensive film ever made in the country.
Directed by Shankar, the film has music by composer A R Rahman. Starring Shriya opposite Rajnikanth, Sivaji has been in the making for the last 19 months.
The pre-release hysteria surrounding (Sivaji) Rajnikanth's 100th Tamil film has reached a crescendo. A festive atmosphere prevailed at the Abirami Complex, Devi Theatre, Sathyam Cinemas, Albert and Udhayam Complex, with ardent Rajnikanth fans waiting in long queues since early this morning to book their tickets.
At several areas, traffic
snarls were reported and the policemen deployed in large numbers to regulate
the crowd.

At Udhayam Complex, the serpentine queue ran for over a kilometre with equal number of women waiting in the queue. According to a theatre owner, 'the demands for Sivaji tickets commenced almost a couple of months ago. The bookings for the first week were over in just a couple of hours.'
At several theatres, the hardcore Rajnikanth fans performed pal abhishekams and broke coconuts to coincide with the commencement of ticket sales.
Saravanan, an ardent fan
Rajnikanth, waiting in the queue for over an hour at Albert Theatre, expressed
confidence that Sivaji would be the mother of all Rajni films. I
want to watch it on the first day first show'.
