From one of the Boys, Bharath's growing stature as an actor has an unmistakable flavour to it. Once Chellame helped him to get an identity of his own, there has been no looking back. Director Shankar's home production Kadhal made him a household name, while Pattiyal and Em Mahan had a decent run to consolidate the early gains.
Last weekend, Bharath had the unique distinction of having two releases on the same day. His Chennai Kadhal directed by Vikraman and Veyyil (Vasantha Balan) got released simultaneously. In that prevalent mood, the youngster was more than willing to share his feelings.
Q: How would you compare Chennai Kadhal and Veyyil?
A: Both are different from each other. While Chennai Kadhal is a commercial entertainer, Veyyil falls in the off-beat bracket. The simultaneous release was only coincidental.
Q: On playing second fiddle in Veyyil?
A: Being part of a good cinema is important for me. When Vasantha Balan approached me with the role, I gave it a good hearing. Even before we went to shoot, I knew well that the story revolved more around Pasupathy. I was more thrilled to be part of my mentor's (director Shankar) home production and of course a good movie.
Q: Your forthcoming films?
A: Koodal Nagar directed by Seenu Ramasamy is nearing completion where I do a dual role for the first time. Then there is Killadi (director Venkatesh) followed by Nepali, a movie to be directed by V Z Durai. On cards is a movie with director Hari.
Q : Do you believe in homework?
A : I do but not all roles demand that. I always try my best to be natural and follow the director's instructions. For Veyyil, due credit should go to director Vasantha Balan, getting the best out of me.
Q: Any formula for coping with success?
A : In an industry of fluctuating fortunes it would be foolhardy to gloat over success. My concern is in retaining the position and working hard on that front.
