        Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today launched an additional relief assistance project worth Rs 120.36 crore to benefit 40,794 tsunami- affected fishermen living in the coastal hamlets across the State.

        An official press release said Karunanidhi handed over tricycle, lifesaving jacket, rechargeable electric lamp, cold storage box to the residents of the fishing villages.

        The Chief Minister also launched scheme to distribute first-aid boxes containing life-saving drugs worth Rs 9.4 crore and sports kits for cricket, volleyball, football, carrom and chess costing Rs 59.10 lakh.

        State PWD and Law Minister Durai Murugan, State Fisheries Minister  K P P Sami and the Chief Secretary L K Tripathy were also present during the function.
