The victorious Sathyabama University team with Chancellor Jeppiaar at the valedictory function.

        Sathyabama University claimed the Dr MGR Memorial Rolling Trophy, winning the first State-level inter-collegiate invitation volleyball tournament for men held at the university campus here from 10 to 13 February.

        Sixteen teams from all over the State participated in the tournament, which was conducted on knockout and league basis.

        The four teams that battled it out in the league stage were — Sathyabama, Annamalai University, Jamal Mohammed College and Panimalar Engineering College, which finished in that order.

        Sathyabama University chancellor Jeppiaar was the chief guest for the valedictory and gave away the prizes.

        Results (league): Jamal Mohammed College bt Sathyabama University 25-21, 18-25, 25-13, 25-22, Annamalai bt Panimalar Engg 25-22, 33-31, 26-28, 26-28, 25-18; Sathyabama bt Annamalai 27-25, 25-20, 25-22; Sathyabama bt Panimalar 25-14, 25-19, 25-23.
