Chennai, Feb 15:

DMDK chief Vijayakanth canvassing for his party candidate at Kondithope in Chennai today.

Continuing his attack on the ruling DMK, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) chief and actor Vijayakanth today wanted to know whether Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would be ready to part with at least one ground land from Anna Arivalayam here.

Campaigning in favour of his party candidates in areaso of North Chennai, Vijaykanth said Highways department authorities' plan to demolish the marriage hall owned by him at Koyambedu was not correct and said they were planning to do so despite his giving a revised plan as sought by them.

Stating that in 1990 he had donated two acres of land owned by him when the then government sought the same, he wondered whether Karunanidhi who talks about public welfare would be ready to give up at least one ground of land from Anna Arivalayam.

The DMDK leader pointed out the DMK chief had forgotten that it was the film fraternity which organised a felicitation programme for him, which he said went a long way in ensuring that the government then completing its full term from 1996-2001.

Further, he said politics and business were two different things and added that he was ready to show his tax returns but is he (Karunanidhi) ready to do the same.

'We will not ally with any party but will do so with the people as they are the ones who decide who is to rule,' Vijayakanth said.

Referring to the violence-marred civic polls last year, the DMDK chief said they (DMK) came to power with the help of goondas and said added 'if they trust the people, they should reach out to them and win elections.'

Politicians should fear the public but in today's world, people are in fear of politicians and this should change, the actor-turned-politician felt.
