State Minister for Higher Education K Ponmudy has called upon students to update their knowledge and develop skills to face global competition.
Speaking during the College Day celebrations of Meenakshi College for Women yesterday, the Minister said, 'earlier, competition level was at the taluk- level, but now it is at the international- level'.
'This is the age of a communication revolution and as a student one has to equip oneself to face the world with pride and confidence' the Minister said adding women's education should also grow. He also urged the students to have social awareness and asked them to adopt radical thinking.
V Vakula, principal, Meenakshi College for Women, read the college report. In her speech, she expressed hope that permission would be granted by the Director of Collegiate Education to fill up the remaining posts of lecturers and also non-teaching staff before the start of the next academic year.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes to students and witnessed the cultural programme performed by the students of the college.
