'Teachers are given a noble task of creating a responsible society and the world at large,' D Viswanathan, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, has said.
Viswanathan was addressing teachers at a function organised by Hindustan Group of Institutions in remembrance of its founder- chairman K C G Verghese here yesterday.
The Vice-Chancellor said, 'teachers are paid less when compared to the IT professional or any other professional, but they have a noble task to create a world of responsible people.'
Quoting from the Vedas, he said the teacher has been given a place above God, and they should be proud of it.
Remembering Verghese, the Vice-Chancellor said he was a man of vision who imparted knowledge to every section of society and had the conviction to make India a global hub for education.
A college journal was brought out and the first copy of it was handed over by Viswanathan to A M Chinnapa, Archbishop, Mylapore. Excerpts from the autobiography of Verghese was also read out by the staff of K C Tech.
