Chennai, Feb 15:
The State Election Commission has taken special measures to prevent the impersonation of poll booth agents by asking the agents representing candidates to produce their identity cards during the Chennai Corporation bypolls on 18 February.
Only one agent per booth and one relief agent for a candidate would be allowed, said a press release from the SEC.
Only one agent would be allowed inside a booth at any given point of time.
Agents can show any government-issued
identity cards like their passports, driving licenses, voters' id, PAN
cards, ration cards, pension pay slips, railway passes, disability certificates
or arms licences for identification. Student identity cards from recognised
colleges are also valid.
