Chennai, May 15:
Reliance Communications Ltd, a part of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group, has introduced colour handsets, close on the heels of a marketing campaign to promote its cell phones.
The company has unveiled a range of Classic handsets earlier this month with prices for monochrome mobiles starting from Rs 777. Also, Reliance has announced that they have sold 10 lakh handsets in just a week after the new pricing for its cell phones.
Speaking to reporters through a video link, S P Shukla, president, Personal Business, Reliance Communications, said colour handsets accounted for 65 per cent of the market and with the new launch of Classic handsets with rich features, the company would be targeting the entry-level users with colour gadgets.
Now, subscribers having monochrome handsets could buy colour phones at an affordable cost and avail many features in them.
'The Reliance subscribers will now get feature-rich colour handsets at prices lower than most black and white phones available throughout the country,' he said.
Apart from being attractive, colour handsets are priced Rs 1,234 and has a SMS call reject feature to inform the caller that the receiver was unable to take the call.
Following a series of initiatives
in a short span, Reliance has established its Classic brand of handsets
as the number two brand in the country, Shukla claimed. Classic handsets
offered the convenience of SIM cards which allowed changeover from one
model to another while retaining the Reliance SIM card.
