        An elderly couple's bodies were found in a highly decomposed state inside a locked house yesterday.

        According to police, Saarath Anbukar (60) and his wife Meenakshi (55), residents of S S Sahib Street, Aminjikarai, hailing from Mumbai, were staying on the second floor of a house these past four years. Apparently, Saarath had been bedridden for the last two years after undergoing an operation and his wife had to attend to the daily chores. Neighbours had complained to Aminjikarai police that a foul smell was emanating from their flat.

        When police forced open the doors of their house, they had found the bodies in a decomposed state. Police are yet to find out if it is a case of suicide or homicide.

        Police have sent the bodies to the government hospital for postmortem.
