        A 17-year-old student attempted to commit suicide by consuming a whitener, when he failed his class XII board examinations yesterday.

        According to police, Karthik, son of Vincent, a resident of K P Garden in Pulianthope, tried to commit suicide by drinking a cleaning agent used for whitening clothes after the board examination results were announced. His parents immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital. He is now under medication.

        Boy ends life

        A class XII student committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Manali New town after the board examination results were announced yesterday.

        According to police, Rajesh Khanna, studying in a private school, committed suicide when he could not find his number published in the list of students who had passed their board examinations.
