        Around 20 houses were gutted in a slum fire at VOC Nagar, Pulianthope, here. According to police, the flames from one of the huts spread quickly, causing the damage. Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel from Esplanade, Vyasarpadi, Vepery, Kilpauk, Royapuram, Korukkupet battled for nearly two hours and put out the fire.
