        Two persons, including a student, were run over by a mini-lorry in a freak mishap near Maraimalai Nagar this morning.

        According to police, the mini-lorry was proceeding from Chennai to Chengalpet. When it reached Maraimalai Nagar, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the median, running over a 55-year-old beggar and an engineering student. The former died on the spot, while the latter succumbed to injuries at Chengalpet Government Hospital.

        The search is on to find the lorry driver, who is absconding.
