        Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has announced that the monetary aid for physically challenged will be given to 10,000 people, up from the current 8,400 beneficiaries, effective from 1 January 2007.

        In an official release here, it was stated that the monetary support scheme for the physically challenged with severity had a good response among the people. Considering it, the Chief Minister had increased the number of beneficiaries.
