To bring forth newer techniques and materials being used in middle ear surgery, the KKR ENT Hospital and Research Institute in association with Chinnamal ENT Medical Education and Research Foundation, organised a two-day workshop on 'Advances In Otology', here yesterday.
Briefing reporters, chairman and managing director of KKR ENT Hospital and Research Institute Dr K K Ramalingam said that the workshop was aimed at demonstrating varied middle ear surgeries.
'A live surgical workshop was conducted to highlight the recent trends in the management of deafness and other ear ailments', he said adding that the techniques of middle ear surgery had been constantly evolving and every Otologists needed to be updated especially to improve and refine their skills.
He also said that the workshop demonstrated many varied middle ear surgeries like mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty, stapes surgery facial nerve surgery, endolymphatic sac surgeries, cochlear implants, fully implantable middle ear transducer and bone anchored hearing aid surgery.
Dr Ramalingam said that the workshop consisted of about 20 operations in addition to lecturers and discussions on various aspects of treatment on deafness, ear discharge and dizziness.
About 150 ENT surgeons from
both India and abroad attended the workshop.
