        The investigation wing of the Income Tax Department seized a sum of Rs 65 lakh from a passenger travelling from Hyderabad at the Chennai Domestic Airport on Friday.

        According to a press release, the cash has been seized by the department as the source for the same could not be satisfactorily explained by the passenger.

        In addition, considerable difference was noticed in the denomination of the cash alleged to have been withdrawn from the bank and the cash found in the possession of passenger. However, enquiries revealed that the cash was intended to be paid as on-money in connection with the purchase of a property at East Coast Road, Chennai. Further investigation is going on.
