Counting of votes for Northern suburbs in Tiruvottiyur Municipality, Kathivakkam and third level Manali Municipality and Chinnasekadu Town Panchayat went on smoothly today without any untoward incident.
For the 48 wards in Tiruvottiyur Municipality, results were declared for four wards which saw DMK winning three and AIADMK one. Earlier, the AIADMK had won from ward 26 unopposed.
The candidates who emerged victorious were M D Sekar (AIADMK) - Ward 6, Phedora (DMK) - Ward 8, Santhi Kamaraj (DMK) - Ward 15, Chockalingam (DMK) - Ward 7 and Kuppan of AIADMK, who was elected unopposed.
In Kathivakkam Municipality, results were out for eight wards out of total of 24 in which DMK and AIADMK won two wards each. While the Congress and DMDK candidates emerged victorious in one ward each. Candidates who won the elections included Hari Sudha (DMDK) - Ward 1, Prabhakaran (independent), Rukmani (independent), Ramesh - Ward 4, Sentharamani - Ward 5, Selvam (AIADMK) - Ward 6, Nalini (AIADMK) -Ward 7, Deivanayagi (Congress) - Ward 8.
In Manali third grade municipality, results were announced for six wards of which AIADMK won three, DMK two and the Congress one.
In Chinnasekadu Town Panchayat,
the DMK won two wards while the Congress bagged one seat and an independent
secured a ward.
