— Albert Einstein As India moves forward in the new millennium, we have made rapid strides in various technologies. And health care has progressed tremendously in the last decade, creating the availability of world-class hospitals offering current technologies. With the advancement of tertiary health care and ageing population, there exists an urgent need for world-class comprehensive management strategies for end-organ failure, i.e. heart failure, pulmonary failure, renal failure and liver failure. An international workshop on 'Heart Failure : Comprehensive Management' is being conducted by National Network for Organ Sharing (NNOS) from today to 19 February on the campus of IIT Madras. The workshop is being held in collaboration with Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Porur, Christian Medical College, Vellore, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai and Ohio State University (OSU), USA. The Certificate of Participation will be issued by Ohio State University (OSU), USA. |

NNOS, as part of its objective, plans
to organise a series of national meetings in both academic and public spheres.
This conference is part of this effort. Eminent cardiac physicians and
surgeons from different parts of India like Chennai, Coimbatore, Vellore,
Trichy, Cochin, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Bhopal are part of
the National Faculty for this workshop.
The international faculty consists of world famous physicians and surgeons from the field of cardiology. They are Dr Abraham, Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Division of Cardio- vascular medicine at the Ohio State University Medical Centre and an internationally known researcher in 'heart failure', Dr Beaver from the University of Wisconsin, USA, Olson, an authority on 'organ procurement and transplantation' from Florida, USA, Dr. Palaniappan from the University of Ohio, Dr Parameshwar from Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, England, Professor Pham formerly from the University of Pittsburgh and an international authority on transplant vasculopathy and transplant tolerance, professor Rosengard, the British Heart Foundation and chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, England, Dr Benjamin Sun, Dr Tsui, Dr Terhani, Wallwork, currently professor of cardio-thoracic surgery and director of Transplant Service at Pap-worth Hospital, Cambridge, England. The entire workshop is being organised by Dr Mohan Thanikachalam, medical director, NNOS. He is also organising secretary of the workshop. |
