Golden Eagle-Blue Star Sports Academy is organising an all-India invitation tournament for men and women, preceded by a State-level championship beginning at the Corporation playgrounds, Venkatanarayana Road, T Nagar, 21 April.
The all-India competition is expected to produce top class stuff for six days beginning from 26 April and ending with the grand finale on 1 May.
An event of this magnitude, involving around Rs 18 to 20 lakh, has become possible thanks to the sponsorship and support of M Nandagopal, chairman and managing director, Mohan Breweries and Distilleries Ltd.
At a media briefing here yesterday, Nandagopal said the all-India tournament, supported by BFI and TNBA, will include top teams like Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), Central Excise-Cochin, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Indian Army, Western Railway and Central Railway. Confirmation is awaited from ONGC.
In the women's section, there are six teams - KSEB, Chhattisgarh, Southern Railway, Western Railway, Central Railway, and South Western Railway.
The State-level championship, under the banner of Rising Stars BC, is to be a knock-out-cum-league event, featuring IOB, Indian Bank, ICF, and Southern Railway in men, and Southern Railway, Rising Stars, Vayudoot and All Star for women.

game in Chengalpattu, while N S Gunasekar, secretary, dwelt on the growth
of the institution and traced the history of popular tournaments. K Mohan,
president, Golden Eagle-Blue Star Sports Academy, underlined the increasing
base of the club.
