        To overcome peak hour rush in city buses, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Ltd has introduced 22 buses in 11 routes as peak hour specials.

        Addition of buses would decongest the buses, avert footboard travel and facilitate easy commuting of the passengers in the summer.These special buses were operated in the peak hours from 7 am to 8 am and 7 pm to 8 pm on a daily basis.

        The new special services include Broadway - Velachery (21L), Villivakkam- Pattinapakkam(27D), Broadway to Mandaiveli(21), Ambattur O T - T Nagar( 147 C), Ambattur O T- Anna Square (H 27), Tiruvanmiyur- Poonamallee (49 M), Ayyapanthangal - Pattinapakkam(12 H), Broadway - Poonamallee (54), Poonamalle - Tambaram (166), Poonamallee - Red hills (62), T Nagar - Tiruverkadu(27 c).

        Since the increase in service has received a warm welcome among the people, the Transport Corporation has decided to operate 30 more buses in 17 new routes, said an MTC press release.

        An introductory camp for parents will be organised by Journal of School Social Work on 22 April to tutor parents on how to enrich the mathematical abilities of their children. Instructions will be given in both Tamil and English. The camp will be held at the conference hall, No 8 (New No 14), Sridevi Colony, Seventh Avenue, Ashok Nagar, Chennai-83 from 2 to 5 pm.

        According to a press release, a discount of 10 to 25 per cent would be offered on account of Tamil New Year. Discount will be offered till 28 April from 10 am to 8 pm.
