        A mother and her two children succumbed to burns sustained in a cylinder blast in their house at Porur, a suburb, this morning.

        The woman's husband, also with serious injuries, had been admitted to hospital. Police suspect it to be a suicide attempt.

        It is reported that around 5.45 am today, neighbours heard a blast at one Mohanasundaram's house and the house was engulfed in flames.

        On information, Porur Police rushed to the spot and found Mohanasundaram and his family in a serious condition.

        Police took them to nearby private hospital where Geetha and her children were declared brought dead. Mohanasundaram with severe injuries is undergoing treatment.

        Police suspect it to be a suicide attempt as the gas cyclinder was found in bedroom with the lid broke up. Further investigations are on.
