Two men, posing as plainclothes police officials, duped a roadside vendor and stripped cash worth Rs 650 yesterday here.
According to police Abdul Azeem, a resident of Mosque Street, Saidapet was leaving for the day after winding up his business when two persons intercepted him near Jones Road and asked him to show his belongings.
Under the pretext of checking
his bag, they looted cash from him and threatened him with dire consequences
if he disclosed it to others. Upon knowing he was cheated Azeem registered
a complaint with Saidapet police station. A case has been registered and
a search is on to round up the culprits.
