        The AIADMK today held a demonstration against Thiruvottiyur Municipality for not providing proper drinking water and sewerage systems.

        The demonstration was led by former minister and Royapuram MLA D Jayakumar. About 500 party cadres participated in the protest.

        Demonstrators alleged that drinking water was provided only once in 10 days. In addition to that, tax on drinking water and underground drainage was also increased.

        The Municipality also experienced frequent power cuts and roads in the area remain badly damaged, the protestors said.

        AIADMK Tiruvallur district secretary V Moorthy, Ponneri MLA Balaraman and Manali Municipality chairman Gnanasekar also took part in the demonstration.
