        An armed eight- member gang from Dindigul that was moving around suspiciously in their car was rounded up near Foreshore Estate here last night. They were reportedly planning to kidnap a real estate businessman for ransom. Two cars and two knives were seized from them, police said.

        Acting on tip-off about the movement of rowdy elements at Foreshore Estate, a police team reached the spot. During the patrol they found these men planning to commit a crime.

        Preliminary interrogations with them revealed that the gang, comprising notorious rowdy elements, were involved in several murder and attempt- to- murder cases.

        The gang members were identified as Mahesh alias Periya Mahesh (40), Pandian alias Dindigul Pandi (43), Mohanram (45), Venkatesh (40), Nandagopal (35), Dhanasekar (40), Selva Kumar (39) and Suresh Kumar (38).
