Progress on all fronts

        'Our country is progressing on all fronts including food production in which we have reached self-sufficiency and are even able to export these to other countries,' said secretary of Sindhi College of Arts and Science, Naraindas Kalro.

        Speaking during the Independence Day celebrations at the college here recently, Naraindas said, 'The country has marched from the days of scarcity to that of surplus production.'

        Principal of the college D Dakshnamurthy praised the efforts of national leaders who had sacrificed their lives to attain independence. The event also witnessed a variety of cultural programmes such as dances, songs, music and skits. The traditional 'Silambattam' was also part of the schedule.

Seminar on infection management

        A seminar on infection management in clinical settings will be conducted at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Teynampet on 22 August, between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm.

        According to a press release, the seminar titled 'Bugs and Drugs' will cerate awareness on diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to manage infectious diseases in hospitals and the general community.

Cartoonist's care on eye donation

        Dr N S Sundaram, former director of Madras Government Eye Hospital, Chennai, along with his son Dr S Natarajan, met leading cartoonist R K Laxman in Mumbai recently.

        They explained to Laxman with a powerpoint presentation about the importance of creating awareness on eye donation and eye care.

        They also requested Laxman to draw cartoons for creating awareness on eye donation and eye care. The cartoonist agreed immediately for the noble cause, a press release said.

Online exams

        Chennai-based RJP Infotek, a premier training institute in Computer Hardware and Networking will be conducting CISCO online certification examinations in Chennai.

        According to a press release, CISCO has authorised US-based Pearson Vue to conduct online examinations globally.

        Pearson Vue has appointed RJP Infotek as 'exam partner' to conduct CISCO examinations in Chennai. CISCO has redesigned its examination structure from 1 August 2007.

        Interested students can book for exam slots as the current CISCI Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification syllabus is valid only till 6 November.

        Students appearing for CISCO online examination have to register at the RJP Infotek's Anna Nagar centre.
