        A middle-aged woman riding on two-wheeler was crushed to death by a lorry at Padi, near Korattur, last night.

        Sarada, 52, was proceeding on a Scooty bike with daughter Kanchana in the pillion when a lorry collided head-on with the two-wheeler on Padavattaman Koil Street at Padi. Both Sarada and Kanchana were thrown off from the vehicle.

        The lorry ran over Sarada who died on the spot. Luckily, Kanchana survived from the mishap. They were travelling last night on the two-wheeler to give away invitation cards for the wedding of Sarada's son Jagannathan to be held on 24 August.

        Sarada was living at Venkatrama Nagar in Korattur along with husband Sundaram, daughter and son. Korattur Police took up the investigation.

        However for a higher-level probe, the Poonammallee Traffic Investigation had taken up the enquiry.
